Bordeaux Stage Of The Six Bridges Rally On The Occasion Of Their Unesco Candidacy

Myriam Larnaudie-Eiffel, president of the ADGE and sponsor of the Six Bridges Rally organized by Timm Kronenberg and Marc Baehr, welcomed all the participants at Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux on Wednesday September 7, 2022.

What is the SIX BRIDGES RALLY?

6000 kilometers
16 days
9 countries
6 decks
1 rally

A trip across Europe to support the candidacy of 6 high-arched viaducts for UNESCO heritage. This candidacy submitted by Germany is very important and of European scope. The route crosses 9 countries, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg and Belgium.

“These bridges are the Ponte San Michele in Italy, the Viaduc de Garabit and the Viaduc du Viaur in France, the Ponte Maria Pia and the Ponte Dom Luis I both in Portugal and the Müngstener Brücke in Germany. The great arch bridges, as they are properly called, were all built at the end of the 19th century. Two of the six bridges were designed and built by Gustave Eiffel. The six great arch bridges are, each in their own way, a magnificent feat of engineering.”

Welcome from the sponsor of the Six Bridges Rally
Mrs. Myriam Larnaudie-Eiffel
Great-great-granddaughter of Gustave Eiffel

Dear participants of the Six Bridges Rally,
It is a great honor for me to be at your side as the godmother of this rally and a descendant of Gustave Eiffel, the builder of the Garabit viaduct and the Ponte Maria Pia.
These two bridges are part of the joint application for UNESCO World Heritage of the 6 bridges with large arches. This candidacy is very important to highlight the feat achieved during the construction of these bridges and to pay tribute to their master builders. It is also important for all of us and you bring all these bridges together on your journey!
I hope you enjoy your adventure through Europe and I look forward to meeting you soon.
Best regards
Myriam Larnaudie-Eiffel

The rally therefore stopped this Wednesday, September 7 in Bordeaux and parked at Place des Quinconces. The participants were welcomed by a representative of the Mayor of Bordeaux and invited to a dinner at the Automobile Club du Sud-Ouest with a conference on Gustave Eiffel from our Association.
