Rouzat viaduct

Nine months after creating his company, Gustave Eiffel is awarded the contract for two viaducts on the Commentry-Gannat line in the Allier department, at Rouzat and Neuvial. Gustave Eiffel innovated by creating struts at the foot of the piers, giving them a curved shape at the base to ensure their stability. He also invented a new method of sliding on the piers of the deck, previously built on one of the banks, by using a rocker track carrying rollers so that the pressures of the deck are equally distributed on each of them.
