Garabit Viaduct
France (CANTAL)
This bridge crosses the Truyère valley on the line from Marvejols to Neussargues at a height of 122 metres over a length of 564 metres.
It rests on five piers, the highest of which is 89.64 metres high. The central arch is a parabolic arch with a spire of 56.86 metres and a chord of 165 metres. These considerable dimensions make this the largest structure ever built in France (3,254 tonnes). It was built like the one in Porto by successive cantilevers.
